The Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) Nationals is one of the most challenging  cycling races in the world. Participating in it is like a dream come true for all Indian cyclists. The selection process for the event, which takes place across the country, is so difficult that only the best compete. Athletes put in years of hard training and commitment to qualify for MTB Nationals; many  make competing in the event a career ambition. However, there are unique Steadfast athletes such as Adonis Tangpu who not only qualify but also win the event year after year.

Khariksing Adonis Tangpu, a Steadfast athlete and rising star of the MTB, added another feather to his cap  by winning multiple medals in the 18th edition of the MTB National Championship organised by the Cycling Association of Maharashtra under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India. The 19-year-old dominated the event from the opening day, winning a gold medal in the Individual Time Trial (ITT) Men Elite category and defeating athletes senior to him both by age and experience. His approach during the race was highly technical; he didn’t try to remain at the top for the entire journey but preserved his energy in a way that allowed him to rush during the final minutes.

The second day of the event saw an even more confident Adonis, as he added the Under-23 Cross Country Olympic title to his name to take his tally to two gold medals. Conscious of the high energy levels required for the race, Adonis consumed Steadfast Peanut Butter right before striking the pedal. The athlete was carrying multiple Steadfast products: Snergy for instant energy and Peanut Butter for good fats. He left  no stone unturned. Having had a full run of the trail and good knowledge of the track, Adonis covered the 30 km distance (6 laps) in 1 hour 12 minutes 44.910. The timing was a huge improvement from the 1 hour 26 minutes 48.417s he had logged to win the ITT.

Throughout the event, Adonis maintained contact with Steadfast nutritionists, as he wanted to stay at the peak of his form till the last day of the event. On the final day, he participated in the toughest category- the XCO (Men Elite). As the race began, people started anticipating him to be the winner as he led for more than 30 minutes. It was only in the final part when he lost control due to a cramp and finished third.

With magical performances in three men’s individual categories, Adonis Tangpu was declared the 2nd Best Male Rider of the event. During the presentation ceremony, he expressed his gratitude to Steadfast Nutrition for letting him grow as a cyclist, taking care of his health, and helping him understand the nutritional requirements of his body. Steadfast Nutrition founder, Mr Aman Puri, a champion cyclist himself, personally congratulated Adonis on achieving the feat.
