Biju George is an accomplished cricket coach who has driven several cricketers to achieve their dreams with his passion for the sport. Being a coach is no easy job. One has to improve technique, motivate the team, prepare them to handle pressure, and help them stay focussed. Biju George, the fielding coach for the Delhi Capitals during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, does it with ease. This year, he has been appointed fielding coach of the Dubai Dubai Capitals in the UAE T20 league. A BCCI level 3 coach, Biju has worked with the National Cricket Academy as a fielding coach for many assignments and has earlier coached the Kolkata Knight Riders (2017-2019) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The former fielding coach of the Indian women’s fielding team has also had a brief stint with the Kuwait national team and was the coach of the South Zone team that won the Duleep Trophy in 2011.
The list of his mentorship is endless. Biju, 66, has worked with the Sports Authority of India since 1992. He has mentored all categories of the Kerala State cricket teams and worked with the under-19 India boys team for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. He has personally coached several cricketers, including Sanju Samson, KM Asif, and Sachin Baby.
Biju George, born and brought up in Trivandrum, started coaching in 1992 with the Sports Authority of India. He holds a Diploma in Coaching (Cricket) from NIS with Level III certification in coaching from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He likes interacting with his students and playing cricket. He reveals that he was once borderline obese and could not run a kilometre but now can cover 21 km running and do serious lifting in the gym.
