STEADFAST ATHLETE STEPHEN KOSGEI WINS GOLD AT HYDERABAD MARATHON

Dec 24, 2021

On December 19, 2021, Steadfast Athlete Stephen Kosgei achieved one of the biggest wins of his career. The long-distance runner grabbed the first position in the 2021 Airtel Hyderabad Marathon, clocking two hours, 23 minutes, and 52 seconds. Mr Kosgei didn’t just win the marathon but also broke 2019 winner Berhanu Feye’s record by three minutes and 18 seconds.

The marathon did not take place in 2020 on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made this year’s edition a huge draw for runners across the globe. The event witnessed the participation of 6,000 runners. Hyderabadis too came out in large numbers to cheer the athletes. The run was held in 10km, half marathon, and full marathon.

The Steadfast Athlete faced off against 500 participants in the full marathon category, covering a distance of 42.195 km. In the initial part of the race, Stephen was comfortably settled in a group of runners chasing the early lead built by local athletes Manvendra Singh and Mohith Rathod.  However, as the race proceeded, he gradually increased his speed and reached the first spot, which he maintained for the last five kilometers.

The 35-year-old Kenyan has never considered his growing age as a barrier to his athletic life, and perhaps that has become the reason for him to age like fine wine. After competing in two full marathons in the US recently, he was able to run like the wind in India. Stephen, who joined Steadfast Nutrition in 2019, says its supplements gave him a new lease in life. His favourite steadfast products are Snergy and Carborance, as they provide him with sustained energy for prolonged activities.

Asked about the role Steadfast Nutrition played in keeping his flawless physique intact, he said, "I always considered deteriorating health with growing age as inevitable until I joined Steadfast. Steadfast products made me realise that it's possible to stay fit and become fitter even in your 30s. Steadfast came as a blessing in my life and I would never be able to thank the brand enough.”

Stephen is certainly an example for not just runners, but for all the other athletes who fail to meet their nutritional requirements but blame their declining performance on their age. This Steadfast Athlete has shown that if a sportsperson gets the right nutrition, ageing cannot stop him from achieving his goals.

Mr Kosgei won a gold medal at the 2012 International Association of Athletics Federations’ World Half Marathon Championship, and now he wishes to represent his country at the ultimate platform- the Olympics.

Speaking about Stephen's victory, the founder of Steadfast Nutrition, Mr Aman Puri, said, "We at Steadfast always knew that Stephen could do wonders. The organisation will continue to support him in all possible ways, and we hope that he shines at the Olympics just like some of his fellow Steadfast athletes. "
